Very good, but with limitations

This is a strange book - a mixture of scholarly research, history, biography, philosophy, self-help, and tinges of spirituality. That will turn some readers off, but I like the book because I think the author has done his homework and makes good points, the most important being that we can all accomplish more than we think if we're guided by a vision and really try.
That said, the author doesn't really offer a 'formula' for high achievement (genius level or otherwise), as some readers may be hoping for. Instead, he presents a large number of traits typically possessed by high achievers, illustrates them with examples (often quite detailed), and implies that adopting these traits will work for us also. That may even be true, but there are two issues here:
(a) It's not clear that any particular 'genius' possesses all or nearly all of the traits. Or at least the author doesn't make the case for that.
(b) Even if geniuses do universally possess these traits, will developing these traits necessarily enable you to achieve at a very high level? Not necessarily, we hear about those who tried and succeeded, not those who tried (in the right ways) and failed.
But even with these critiques, this is an informative and interesting book which can provide inspiration and useful wisdom, so I do recommend it to anyone seeking to enhance to their ability to achieve.

An inspirational piece of writing that can be described by in no other way than truly GENIUS

I had recently started an account with audible.com's subscription service (highly recommended). With that I was given 1 free book of my choosing. Prior to this transaction, I'd had my eye on "Awakening" as I was in search of a self-help book that wouldn't be too conventional. To my surprise, this was far more than what would be constituted as any kind of "Self-help" book. No, that title would not do the contents of this piece justice.
The best way one would be able to describe "Awakening your Inner Genius" would be as an Inspirational coach for your mind. Mr. Patrick at no point alludes to this book being any form of path to divine enlightenment as most authors of this genre would, but rather he presents the reader with the primary idiosyncrasies shared between the worlds most influential individuals and how they came about being refereed to as "Geniuses".
In many ways, "Awakening your Inner Genius" is as much a biography of history's most profound movers and shakers as much as it is a tool for enhancing the readers perception of the term "Genius". From the opening chapter to the "About the Author" excerpt in the final pages, the author expresses his charismatic and overall delightfully optimistic outlook on the human condition through his presentation of the subject matter. If this book has anything going for it, it's the fact that the author presents his work in the most accessible and enjoyable fashion that he possibly could. This was clearly a labor of love by Mr. Patrick, an assertion one can confirm only by seeing how eloquently he describes the life and times of Leonardo Da vinci, Nikola Tesla and Alexander the Great (among many others).
Now, subject matter and tone of writing are always important factors to take into consideration when writing a book of this type, but in the end this IS a self improvement book. So, the inquiry presents itself: does this book succeed in awakening the readers "Inner genius"?
The answer is yes, I would say so. I have never held such passion for pursuing my desired job field as much as I have after reading this book. I am a junior in high school; a crucial point of discovery at any point in an individuals life. I have been constantly debating with myself what my potential career may be, most of the time begrudgingly so. After the month or so of exploring this text, I have now found where my true desires lie and have slowly been working my way through the steps in order to achieve this dream. This book has posed a great help in this regard. Because of this, I may come off as a tad bias, but in the end i can proudly state that "Awakening your Inner Genius" has impacted me in a profound way no other book of the type has even come close to doing and I greatly wish that it may have the same effect on any and all who decide to give it a read.
Bravo Mr. Patrick and thank you for all you've done. I highly recommend purchasing this book.

I love this book! Sean Patrick tells you how to awaken your own inner genius by telling incredible stories of the great geniuses of history. I totally was engrossed! This book is truly inspiring and I am working on becoming a genius myself!
