So sweet and so helpful!

In this book, Magenta gets glasses. This involves a trip to the eye doctor. Of course, Steve and Blue go along for moral support. Magenta gets to tell the doctor which items are bigger, more in focus, and so on. Then she gets to pick out her own frames (purple of course!) and have the glasses fitted.

This book parallels the Blue's Clues TV episode of the same name. In the TV episode, Sherry Stringer (of ER fame - Susan) does the voice for the eye doctor.

Both the episode and the book adequately prepare a child for the experience of getting glasses. My two year old was so excited about this book (she hadn't seen the episode, although she will, via Tivo). It's precious and helpful in a stressful situation. My daughter picked out purple frames, in order to be like Magenta.

Good Book without name calling

Finally, a book without the negative name-calling i have seen in multiple other books! It just states that Magenta see's blurry, goes for an exam and tells of how she discovers all of the things she couldnt see before like the bird in the tree. It also emphasizes that she can pick out her own pair of frames for her glasses making her seem "cool." I highly recommend it for the preschooler-Kindergartner who is going to get glasses or just did. My 4 year old liked it and his teacher read it to the class.

"But now I have lots of friends who see like me / My glasses are so cool!"

That's from the television episode. It's not in this book, but that doesn't stop this book from being an excellent adaptation of the television story.

In this book, the readers follow from Magenta's perspective as she goes to get glasses. We get to "hear" Magenta's thoughts basically, as she worries the glasses will be too heavy and then later realizes how much the glasses are helping her. Magenta wanted to see a butterfly and with her new glasses, she finally can.

Anyone who's ever needed to get glasses will be able to identify with what happens in this story.

This is one of the most comprehensive books I have ever read on Cataracts. You could spend a year reading other books and not get the clear and concise information this book delivers. Dr. Swartwout is not only an accomplished Optometrist but a Naturopath who understands how healing the entire person, heals the eye. This is an opportunity/window into healing you wont get from other books or authors. Highly recommended. Best deal on Amazon!

A lot of chemicals

I was really hoping for more natural solutions from this book, and more emphasis on healthy and whole nutrition. I was astounded at the list of supplements one needs to consume. It even seemed at one point that one might be swallowing up to 40 or more pills per day. I was also surprised at the total omission of vitamin K2, without which calcium cannot be properly absorbed nor directed internally. Vitamin D and magnesium are also an integral part of this system, but given scant play in the book. I suspect that the clinic in Hawaii is a cash cow. I was pleased that electricity was mentioned, but disappointed that this alternative subject was not developed. Nor was earthing or grounding mentioned.

Engaging, Fast-Paced, and Well Done.

Thirty-something-year-old business owner Sandra Laurent is miserable in the aftermath of her recently blown up Perfect Life.

Her two best gal pals take her from Toronto to a vacation in the Bahamas, to cheer her up. She has a one night fling while she’s there and you can guess from the title what happens… Oh yes, she is.

She throws herself into her new forthcoming role, alone. But then we have another twist. And another...

The only niggle I had with it was that I didn’t find it very believable that she’d run into Baby Daddy in a coffee shop in Toronto on accident. (by the way, this is mentioned in the first few pages and in the author’s summary so I think in this case it’s not really a spoiler) But that’s minor in the overall scheme of it.

This whole scenario could be awful in real life but the author manages to make it a fun, chick-lit style read. If that’s what you’re in the mood for, this is your book. It’s engaging, fast-paced, and well done.

Really fun!

After a heartbursting breakup, Sandra allows her friends to whisk her away to the Bahamas so she can nurse her wounds and move forward. The trip turns out to be just what she needs, and Thomas—a successful and sexy Brit—turns up at just the right moment. Convinced he was nothing more than a passionate one-night stand, she tosses his contact details and heads home to Toronto. It isn’t until a few months later that she realizes the error of this decision, when she bumps into him, pregnant with his child and seeing how caring of a man he truly is. Alas, he is in a serious relationship with a stunning fashion icon and model named Tiffany, who wields a heavy hand over Thomas and, in turn, Sandra, in a love triangle that makes for a highly entertaining read.

This was a cute and diverting story, and I had a lot of fun reading it. If you are looking for a playful read while relaxing on your beach blanket this summer, you’ll certainly find it in Unexpectedly Expecting.

Sandra turns out the lucky one in this drama filled, romance, when love sort of bumps into her and a child comes of it. . Perhaps, she wasn't expecting Mr. Wonderful to so great but in this love triplex, love is the element. Author Sophia Labonte' outdone herself in imagery, romance, drama, and continued to probably, unknowingly promote the tale through her own talent as the story flowed, capturing me as a romance lover. I would say the story is love inspired and deals with elements of real life loves. Great job Labonte'. I definitely recommend this story to any romance, reader...!!!!!

Meir Statman is the Glenn Klimek Professor of Finance at the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University. About the Author
Richard Campbell, Chair of the Department of Media, Journalism and Film at Miami University, is the author of "60 Minutes" and the News: A Mythology for Middle America (1991) and coauthor of Cracked Coverage: Television News, the Anti-Cocaine Crusade, and the Reagan Legacy (1994). Campbell has written for numerous publications, including Columbia Journalism Review, Journal of Communication, and Media Studies Journal, and he is on the editorial boards of Critical Studies in Mass Communication and Television Quarterly. He also serves on the board of directors for Cincinnati Public Radio. He holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University and has also taught at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Mount Mary College, the University of Michigan, and Middle Tennessee State University.

Christopher R. Martin is a professor of journalism at the University of Northern Iowa and author of Framed! Labor and the Corporate Media (2003). He has written articles and reviews on journalism, televised sports, the Internet, and labor for several publications, including Communication Research, Journal of Communication, Journal of Communication Inquiry, Labor Studies Journal, Culture, Sport, and Society, and Perspectives on Politics. He is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Communication Inquiry. Martin holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and has also taught at Miami University.

Bettina Fabos, an award-winning video maker and former print reporter, is an associate professor of visual communication and interactive digital studies at the University of Northern Iowa. She is the author of Wrong Turn on the Information Superhighway: Education and the Commercialized Internet (2004). Her areas of expertise include critical media literacy, Internet commercialization, the role of the Internet in education, and media representations of popular culture. Her work has been published in Library Trends, Review of Educational Research, and Harvard Educational Review. Fabos has also taught at Miami University and has a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa."
